Welcome to AttendMate. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the AttendMate mobile application ("App") and related web portal at https://attendmate.app. By installing or using the App, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. Description of Service

AttendMate is a local-first companion application designed to help students track class attendance, calculate bunk allowances, configure optional classroom geofences for attendance reminders, import and export historical attendance datasets, synchronize timetables with Google Calendar, and maintain optional secure backups via Google Drive.

2. Location Services & Geofencing

The App offers optional location-based features (such as geofence attendance verification and proximity reminders):

• User Authorization: Location features function solely when you voluntarily grant device location permissions.
• Accuracy Disclaimer: Geofencing accuracy depends on your device hardware, GPS reception, network conditions, and operating system energy optimizations. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free location detection.
• Local Processing: All location data is processed strictly on your physical device and is never transmitted to external servers.

3. Third-Party Services (Google Calendar & Google Drive Cloud Backup)

The App provides optional synchronization and backup features that connect to Google APIs. By enabling these features, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

• Google Calendar Synchronization: You authorize AttendMate to create, update, and manage academic lecture entries on your connected Google Calendar. AttendMate does not read or alter personal calendar entries created outside the App.
• Google Drive Cloud Backups: When cloud backup is enabled, AttendMate uploads a single user-controlled backup file (attendmate_cloud_backup.json) directly to your personal Google Drive storage. AttendMate has no access to any other files or folders in your Google Drive.
• Google Terms Compliance: Your use of Google Services is also subject to the Google Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
• Third-Party Liability: We do not host or store your backups on proprietary servers. We are not liable for accidental schedule conflicts or cloud storage outages originating from external providers.

4. Local Data Storage & User Responsibility

Because AttendMate operates on a local-first architecture:

• All attendance records, timetable schedules, semester settings, and location coordinates are stored directly in your device's local database.
• You can create local filesystem backups and restore previous records anytime via the Semester Backup features.
• Clearing app data or uninstalling the App without a local or cloud backup will permanently erase your data.

5. Disclaimer of Warranty & Limitation of Liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. While AttendMate provides accurate bunk allowance calculations, you remain solely responsible for verifying your attendance against your university or institution's official records. In no event shall the developer be liable for any academic consequences, lost data, or damages arising from your use of the App.

6. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be published on this portal. Your continued use of the App following any updates indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
